Nail Polish and Headaches

Friday morning was beyond interesting. I had spent thursday trying to think of more things to write and looking for gigs. That and checking my inbox religiously. You'd think I would have given up by now. I know that it takes time to review all the submissions that editors get in. Still, it's a habit I can't shake right now. I don't think that hope is too bad of a habit, though.

But, back to friday morning. It seems that my 5 year old has taken to slipping downstairs while I am sleeping. I freaked out when I saw she wasn't in her room when the alarm went off. I get her up every morning, so to see an empty bed sent me running through the house like a mad woman. Didn't take me long to find her though. All I had to do was follow the smell of nail polish.

Opening the bathroom door, a little girl stood smiling at me looking like she'd been through the Apocalypse. You know, the one where Revlon and Max Factor meet upon the fields of Armageddon. Purple, blue, red, and a smattering of gold decorated my child from head to toe. Makeup littered the floor in the midst of multi-colored puddles.

Needless to say, what's left of it all is locked away up high now.

It took me about an hour to get her totally cleaned up, though her feet still had a little on them. I just threw socks over it, figured that by the time she came home from school her little smellies would be sweaty enough for it to just fall off. You think that's gross? Pfeh. I'm a mom, sweat doesn't phase someone who has had a baby puke in her mouth at the Wal Mart checkout. That's right, I am the Mom of Steel.

Other than the Friday Morning Apocalypse, nothing has been interesting. My head felt like someone kicked me repeatedly with Doc Martins on last night and today. Couldn't concentrate on writing any real articles, though I did kick off a post on my other blog. I write about hardcore pennypinching methods there. So far I have only one post up of interest. I have a lot of ideas, but I don't want to put them all in one post or write them in just one day. If I do that, what the heck will I write in it later?

I did find some interesting articles on how to punch up your content for articles. Most of it revolves around keywords. It also has a great tool for figuring out which keywords you should use for optimum effect. I need to do some more reading on LSI, or whatever it's called.

That's about it for tonight. See you tomorrow, same bat-time, same bat-channel.
