Amber and Fragile X

It seems we did not receive some paperwork on Amber we should have gotten 2 years ago. I am not a happy camper. Amber has many characteristics of a child with Fragile-X Syndrome and in the paperwork it was strongly suggested we have her test. Her doctor had only mentioned it in passing. But, these evaluators seemed to think she may very well be an FXS child.

Nice to know so late after the fact, right?

So, anyway, I am posting a sparkly Spongebob for Amber today. She loves Spongebob and the color green and this little gif has the best of both worlds, plsu I can bring her here anytime to see it.

Enjoy the 'bob!

Well thats real nice. So are they wanting you to test her now?

Yes, so we just need to wait for her files to be transferred from her old doc to the new one, then get a referral. Don't you love the system?

Glad you dropped by, I just visited your blog, wish I had found it before! We sound a lot alike. Tons of kids and trying to live in the system.

My daughters were tested for Fragile X when they were initially evalutated for autism when they were three. I was under the impression that almost all doctors tested for it when giving an autism diagnosis. Hmm...
I feel your frustration!

Her original ped told us that she was 'too friendly' to be autistic at all. Amber just got an 'official' Autism diagnosis from a team of evaluators from the school system and Social Security.

Now the friendly thing is coming back to haunt us, I read that FXS kids are often very friendly even with their autism.
