Friends and Neighbors, I am angry. Boiling, over the top, MAD.
We switched to Cavalier Phone service a few months ago because Verizon was just too expensive. You call and get a quote of a certain price, but it rises to a totally different number. Though, I have to say, Verizon kept the service working properly 90 to 98% of the time.
Cavalier has been a nightmare from the start. They just expanded into our area, so we were one of the first customers to sign up. Sounded like a great deal, $40 a month for DSL and unlimited phone service. Awesome! Wonderful! Hooray!
Wrong.
The service was not turned on in 7 days as we were quoted. It was several weeks. Ok, well, we just kept the cell phone on a little longer. Then the DSL worked, but the phone didn't. Their DSL filters do not work, so we used the ones Verizon sent. Next problem, callers had a horrible echo on their end and could not understand us. On to the next, static. Then, the phone went out for good.
What? Come on. No dial tone, but people who called us said there was a ringing, then they had the voice mail. My email was full of 'Where are you people?' So, we get through to Cavalier via their stupid online chat service, which though it says LIVE person, is really a bot. No person repeats themselves to the T each time. Unless they are cutting and pasting, in which case, they need to be paid less.
But, wonder of all wonders, a tech made it out. Then the phone box on the pole needed to be fixed. During the repair power to the entire street was knocked out. No phone, no power. The electricity was back on in a few hours, but, gah.
That was a few days ago. The company said we would get a credit for all of the time and trouble. Today, the phone was D.I.S.C.O.N.N.E.C.T.E.D.
WHAT?
No, I am not kidding. After all of this mess and only having maybe two weeks of uninterrupted service, which STILL have a bad echo to where no one could understand us, our phone is cut off. I wrote the company and it seems we owe them 132.00 for a service we could not use. But they were nice enough *cough* to offer a $25 credit to drop the entire bill down to $132.00. The big hearted lugs. I mean, wow, what a steal! Installation must have took all of 15 minutes (if that, we have existing lines) and I use cable internet for the computer. Rob (hubby) installed the DSL router himself to the Xbox.
So, what am I paying for?
Obviously, nothing. At least, not for me. Someone at that company must need a new pair of shoes or something. Maybe they can get some from the 'No Shoe' shoe store.
Ijits.

What a joke of a company.
Why do people switch. Been waiting for a credit since may of last year for dsl. I was told its the best thing. So I took it. I had it 1 month and got rid of it. Slower than dial up. Took two week to get me turned on and one month ago they disconnected my phone and they dont know how that happened.
They are in the out field no one knows what there doing.
Sorry to hear that, Gasman.
Ours was finally cut back on after I threatened to write an article for the local newspaper. I went back and forth in email with these jokers for several days, until finally a supervisor got it and credited the entire bill.
But THEN we got the bill and only $25 was credited, where we were promised the whole thing. So, it looks like I need to get back on them!
Wishing you a lot of luck with yours and if I can help out, let me know.
URGGGGG!!! I wish I would have read this artical THREE weeks ago when I signed up for this UNSERVICE. I have been waiting THREE weeks to get turned on and they want me to WAIT another week!!!! I hope this company burns to the ground and I will be making sure I drag their name through the mud and getting this to a reporter on the local news and paper! I urge everyone with a bad experience to email their testomonies to my email address: perky_princess05@yahoo.com
Thanks for saving me the headache.
Glad I saw this..I was about to switch..thanks!!!!
Wanted to sign my college student up for a line in the dorm to have besides a cell, but thanks to all of your negative feedback on this joke of a company, I think I will save myself the trouble. I was told they were in the North Atlanta/Cobb County region, I don't know if all of your problems are in that area, if not then maybe there is still hope? Anybody in Cobb have any good experiences? Comcast is almost $40 for just local calls.
What do I do now. I already singed up last week for two phones at home. They took the installation payment out of my account almost immediately. They said it would be one in 1 to 3 days. That was last week Tuesday. What do I do if they don't. I'm currently looking for work and now potential employment can't reach me. When should I take legal action? How do they get away with this?
I am so glad that I read these comments! I'm actually looking to switch right now and it's awful that these people had to experience such bad business. Cavalier should be put out of business.
p.s. thanks for saving me the trouble.
