Help Support Simon Gabriel!

I have links to the blog of Simon Gabriel and to the auction site made for his benefit. Most of you know I'm not rich and to tell the truth I was pretty down because I couldn't donate anything. Well my wonderful husband came up with a solution. The following letter is from him and has been posted on several forums.

Keep in mind when you read this that Simon was born at 22 weeks of pregnancy. A normal pregnancy should last 38-40 weeks for a healthy full term baby. Simon is a fight, but he is hours away from his mom, dad, and big brother. With gas costs, they really need help to be with Simon.

From my husband:

"Hello all,

I am going to be holding an XBOX live tournament for Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. I am holding this tournament in regards to help raise money for a family who recently had a child born premature at 22 weeks. The babies name is Simon Gabriel, he has been through a lot over the past few weeks and so have the parents. They have been bouncing back and fourth between Wyoming where they live and Denver CO. where the baby is in the hospital. I am looking for anyone who would like to help sponsor the tournament by helping with prizes to give out.

I am going to be charging $10.00 per gamer to join in this event, with a portion of the proceeds going to Simon's Family to help them out and a portion going to purchase other prizes for the event.

What I am looking for from sponsors would be the following:

Xbox 3 Month Gold Cards
Xbox 1 Month Gold Cards
Xbox 1600 Microsoft Points Cards
Xbox 800 Microsort Points Cards

And or anything else that would help give prizes for the players.

Any of those prizes you can pick up at Radio Shack or even Wal*Mart.

I will be purchasing a few games from my own money and also using a portion of the entry fees to purchase other Xbox items.

The proceeds from the entry fees will be donated to Simon's Family in the Name of United Gamers Alliance, and followed with all the names of those who helped sponsor prizes for the event.

A website to learn more about Simon is www.simongabriel.net

Thank you for taking the time to read this...."

And while you read this, laugh at the man who tries to be a 'hard ass'. HA. More like a 6'5 teddy bear with a real soft spot for babies.

Taters, Onions, and Eggs.

I constantly present my Yankee husband and inlaws with succulent southern fare. Some of the most thrifty, simple foods are also the best tasting. Filling, too. My kids always love the homemade experiments that come out of the kitchen, but their favorite foods are like mine, simple.

This next recipe, if it can be called that, would be instantly recognizable to Marye Audet from Baking Delights and any number of my southern friends. Speaking of Marye, she lives in Texas. I'm worried about you, lady, if you have a chance to see this. Be safe in the aftermath of Ike!

Taters, Onions, and Eggs.

3 medium/largish potatoes, diced 1/2 inch or less.
1 onion diced rough.
6 eggs, scrambled, set aside.
1/2 cup cheese (shredded), cheddar or colby works great.

Heat a frying pan with a tablespoon of oil, shortening, or (gasp)lard/bacon grease. Any oil will do. The pan should be set on medium heat. Dump in the potatoes and onions. Cook until browned in some places, but they must be tender. Time can vary depending on the heat of your pan, so this will take some experimenting.

As soon as the potatoes are tender, pull them away from the center of the pan, leaving a well. Pour in the 6 eggs, let them cook until they begin to set, then mix into the potatoes. On top of this, drop the cheese.

Stir it all until the eggs are set to your prefereence and the cheese has melted. Season to taste, then serve. This fed my family of 5 this morning!

Dear Lord, It's Morning.

Help me.

The kids have been awake since 6 am. On a Sunday. Yikes. It doesn't help that I ended up sleeping in their room last night. 3 kids, 6 or so stuffed animals, and one pregnant Mama in on full size bed is /not/ fun.

Now Ambi is saying whatever she can to irritate me. Trying to ignore it, but when someone gets right in your ear yelling about how they pooped somewhere or was going to tell someone to shut the f* up...it is hard to ignore.

Trying to do that as I write this. I need a vacation.

Butt Cream Causes Uproar

Seriously, when I posted 'Gotta Get Me Some Ana-ItchD', I had no idea that it would turn into a popular post. Maybe for laughs, maybe for someone who really needed something for their nether-parts. But, this has gotten to be beyond silly.

Check the post and comments here!

People posted about how the product was wonderful. Then people posted about how it was junk. Then others posted back in some serious defense of the cream.

I have to say that I think those who are being so nasty in defense of the product have to be selling it. No one gets so angry over a company they've never worked for if they've just used the product. You don't attack someone for saying something didn't work for them and they had crappy customer service.

So now I am wondering if the good folks who make our infamous itch cream are monitoring their brand through Google and just hitting every blog out there. I'm not sure how many blogs take the time to talk about itchy asses, but hey...this is Not Enough Coffee, we venture into every dark recess.
